Jeremy Wang, "Disguised Toast," or "Toast" as he is known on various social media platforms, is a Canadian streamer and YouTuber. Toast started as a Hearthstone streamer and found a significant audience playing Among Us.

In his Hearthstone days, Toast was known for creating meme decks to play against his opponents.

In August of 2020, Toast become one of the top Among Us streamers, elevating his popularity significantly to be one of the top content creators of the year. He stopped playing Among Us in May 2021.

Toast streamed on Twitch until November 2019 when he signed an 3-year $94 million exclusive contract with Facebook Gaming with an opt out clause after two years.[1] On November 17, 2021, Toast opted out of his contract. On November 24, 2021, Toast officially returned to Twitch.

Biography[]

In 2015, Wang began making infographics and YouTube videos in which he showcased unusual card interactions in Hearthstone, shared on the community aggregation site Reddit.[2] Wang covered his face with a toast-shaped cardboard mask until he revealed his face by mistake in October 2016.[3]

In March 2017, Wang competed in the ONOG Major Circuit at PAX East.[4] Despite making it into the top 32, he overslept the following morning and was disqualified.[5]

Since October 2017, Wang has been a part of "OfflineTV", a collaborative group of content creators, with whom he lives in California.[6]

In May 2019, Wang was nominated as Twitch Streamer of the Year in the 11th annual Shorty Awards.[7]

Throughout 2020 and 2021, Toast regularly hosted Among Us lobbies with his friends and often with other big names in entertainment. In the duration of the Among Us phenomenon, Toast's followers doubled, if not tripled, on most platforms. Eventually he felt like there was no more novelty in Among Us and stopped regularly playing in May 2021. In June 2021, Toast posted a video documenting the rise and fall of his Among Us career.[8]

In early 2021, Toast returns to Twitch solely for Just Chatting streams, as his contract with FB Gaming allows him to continue to stream on Twitch as long as he is not playing a game live. As a result, his Twitch account is made use as his alternate streaming channel.

In 2022, Toast hinted at interest of starting his own Valorant professional e-sports team. In January 2023, Toast officially announced his team - Disguised, or DSG for short. In March-April 2023, Disguised temporarily entered the Game Changers scene of Valorant.

Name[]

ToastConan

Wang's username is a reference to a Hearthstone card, SI:7 Agent. When played in-game, the voice line for the card reads "This guy's toast".[9] Comedian Conan O'Brien called it "the greatest name in gaming history".[10]

Controversies[]

In June 2017, he was temporarily banned from Hearthstone for 72 hours, in response to an instance in which he showcased an exploit on stream.[11][12][13]

In early 2019, Wang was criticized on Reddit for his extensive use of clickbait in YouTube thumbnails.[14] Later in the year, he turned down an offer from Blizzard Entertainment in which he was asked to reveal a new card from the Saviors of Uldum expansion, citing his personal feelings on Hearthstone as well as negative community reaction.[15]

In early January of 2022, he was banned from Twitch for watching the entirety of the Death Note anime. Though, it was revealed by him that he asked LilyPichu to DMCA strike him, meaning it was all faked, though this reveal did bring some controversy.

Toast has an older brother and sister. Toast's parents are both of Chinese descent, but his mother is a Korean national. After taking a 23 & Me DNA test, Toast learned that while is primarily of Chinese descent, he is also part Korean and Filipino.

In January 2020 Him and Janet (xChocobars) announced on twitter that their relationship has ended. Wang also joked about bringing the harem era back. Him and Janet still remain good friends.

In June 2020, it was revealed that Fedmyster had made multiple non-consensual sexual advances towards many of the female members and friends of OfflineTV. Wang spoke up about this and other issues with women in the streamer space, lamenting that he didn't do more to stand up for his female friends at conventions and other awkward situations.

Trivia[]

  • Toast's closest rival is Hafu. They both played with each other back in their Hearthstone era and continue to play the same games at the same time (TFT, Among Us, Valorant).
    • Coincidentally, both share "Wang" as their surname.
  • Toast was one of only two streamers in the OTV universe that streamed on Facebook Gaming, the other being JoblessGarrett.
    • This also makes Toast the only Offline TV talent to stream on a different platform other than Twitch
    • Toast is also the only person in the OTV circle that streamed in 3 different platforms (YT, Twitch, FBGG)
  • Toast is rarely seen malding while playing, and if so he jokingly uses intimidation tactics to scare his fellow streamers when he is irritated. However, he malded repeatedly while playing Pico Park with other OTV and Friends streamers, and this was often compiled in Youtube videos due to it being a rare occurrence of Toast getting openly annoyed in-game.
  • Toast, alongside Valkyrae, is the main streamer to host the evening Among Us lobbies.
    • This also reflects his rivalry with Hafu, as the latter also hosts her own morning lobbies.
      • However, the two also play with each other in their respective AU lobbies.
  • In every OTV MineCraft arc, Toast always asserts himself as the leader and/or the antagonist of the server.
  • Toast was one of several streamers in the OTV universe with an alternate streaming channel, the others including LilyPichu, Fuslie, 5up, Tubbo, and Karl Jacobs. As Toast has returned to Twitch, this is not the case anymore.
