Celine Cheung, also known by her online alias starsmitten , is a Korean-American Twitch streamer.
Background[]
Celine was born in South Korea, but her family moved to the United States when she was 4 years old. Celine's Korean name is Min-jeong (Korean: 민정) and she is fluent in Korean.
After finishing high school, Celine created a League of Legends account under the username smittenkitten. Celine's friends used to jokingly call her Cerine. When she started streaming, she created a twitch account Cerineity, but since it was hard for everyone to remember, Boxbox suggested that Celine should change her handle. She changed her name in 2018 first to StarsmittenCC and later, in the same year, to Starsmitten.
Career[]
In 2014, while Celine was studying Communications at Northwestern University, she created her twitch channel, but was not a consistent streamer. In 2015, through streaming, she became friends with Hyoon, bawlynn, Ploo, Yvonnie and Kimi.
In July 2016, Celine traveled to Anime Expo 2016 together with Hyoon and bawlynn where she met Kimi, Fuslie, xpori and Enluna.[2] In November 2016, AngelsKimi invited Celine to travel with her for her sponsored trip to Korea. As Kimi did not speak Korean, Celine acted as her translator. This experience led Celine to pursue a career as a Korean translator in esports.[3] In January 2017, Celine joined Phoenix1 as a translator. Shortly thereafter, Kimi and Leslie also joined Phoenix1 as content creators.
In 2018, Leslie, Kimi, and Jaime decided to establish a content house Just Friends and invited Celine to become the house manager. After joining Just Friends, Celine decided to become a full time streamer. On August 2, 2018, she received Twitch Partnership.
Between 2020 and 2021, Celine was part of Screamer House.
